Created as an editorial image in watercolor, I had the challenge of creating an illustration that could be used for an article about Andy Warhol’s art held hostage in a warehouse. Because of its popularity, I chose to use his Marilyn Monroe images behind Warhol. Because he is held hostage, his arms are bound, the Monroes are silenced with cloth around their mouths, and Warhol wears sunglasses to disguise his identity.
